GREEN BAY, Wis. (WGBW) – It’s the oldest rivalry in the NFL as the Packers gear up to host Chicago this Sunday afternoon. And with the NFC North title on the line, Lambeau Field will be a special place for the 211th Packers-Bears border brawl. There’s also a host of special events happening around the game.

Packers Honor a Pearl Harbor Hero

One is in honor of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. Rolland Briar, a 103-year-old Pearl Harbor survivor, will be recognized on the video boards from his indoor seating area at the two-minute warning of the first half. Briar was aboard the USS Whitney when more than 180 Japanese airplanes attacked around Ford Island on December 7, 1941. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy earlier that same year.

Jordan Love Recognized for Community Service

The game will also highlight the NFL’s prestigious Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, recognizing Jordan Love as the Packers’ club winner. Love was selected for his commitment to creating a positive impact beyond the game. He started the Hands Of 10ve Foundation, which includes his 10ve for Cleats initiative. It supports youth, mental health awareness, and the efforts of law enforcement. Love now represents the Packers in the national competition. The overall winner will be announced in February.

And here’s what Love had to say when asked why Sunday’s matchup with the Bears is so important.

“A big game for sure,” Love said during a pre-game press conference. “Obviously, the Bears are number one in the NFC and top of the NFC North right now, so it’ll be a great game and obviously a game where we’ve got to go out there and handle business.”

Warning about Buying Game Tickets

You can probably imagine, there is a high demand for tickets to Sunday’s game. Officials with the Packers are sharing a heads-up — be cautious about purchasing tickets on the secondary market. Fans are also being reminded: only buy from authorized NFL ticket resellers or purchase tickets from someone you know – a friend, neighbor or family member.

—>NOTE: As of late Friday, there are a limited number of tickets available for Sunday’s game due to the Bears returning a portion of their allotment. Find more here.

Another Matchup in just 13 Days

This Sunday’s game kicks off at 3:25pm. But the Packers take on the Bears again in and in less than two weeks. This game has recently been moved to a prime-time matchup on Saturday night, December 20th.

Kick off for the game at Soldier Field in Chicago is 7:20pm.
