LP solutions supports Hayward Band and Choir Seniors

LP Building Solutions has donated to help cover the cost of banners for the Hayward High School band and choir seniors.

It’s the third year the Hayward Music Boosters organization has dedicated banners to the seniors. This is the first year it’s been sponsored.

Choir Director Ben Discera says many other schools give support to the sports programs. He says he’s glad to see community support and recognition for the arts program.  

“I think music is a little bit of a smaller community, but Hayward in particular has really good community support for the arts and for music, band, choir and stuff like that. So it was really cool to see not only the community but another big business in our community take on that role too. That kind of says to me that like, ‘yeah we care about the sports and everything like that but we also care about the music and academic side of our students too,’” says Discera.

The banners were made by Apple Awards. Discera says he was able to unveil the banners to the seniors in class, and described their reaction.

“It was cool, I told them why we were taking their picture and stuff like that. We got them delivered and then we had an unveiling in class and I would hold them up and be like ‘this is this person,’ and they’d be like ‘oh wow’ and they all clap and stuff. So we got to do that with each one so each senior got a little private recognition,” says Discera. 

Discera says that the seniors get to keep the banners at the end of the year, and the students will be able to display them at graduation parties.
