Several spooky flicks are set to both exhilarate and terrify this Halloween, star actress and singer Jennifer Lopez puts to bed rumors of any lingering interest in fellow “”Out of Sight” co-star George Clooney, and U.S. President Donald Trump is using the extra time off allotted by the shutdown of the federal government to make AI videos of himself dumping feces on protestors in this edition of “In Case You Haven’t Heard.”
If you’re looking for a good psychological thriller as we approach Halloween, The Wrap just listed several in the genre that are available on HBO this spooky season – including “Silence of the Lambs,” “Gone Girl,” and of course, “The Sixth Sense.” You can also check out an even older classic, “Rashomon,” from legendary Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa. What’s your favorite scary flick? I would love to know!
Jennifer Lopez recently appeared on the “Howard Stern Show” and told the host that she had absolutely no feelings for George Clooney, despite their on-camera, physical chemistry. She was referring to their time together on “Out of Sight,” the Stephen Soderberg crime drama film from 1998. Lopez told Stern that she is good at setting boundaries with her co-stars, adding that when it comes to feelings for fellow actors, the only co-star she ever got involved with was Ben Affleck.
The couple became engaged in the early 2000s after meeting on the set of the awful movie “Gigli,” a film that received a 6 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and trust me, the critics were being generous. Lopez went off and got married a couple times before finally coming back to Benny (from the block) Affleck. The two finally married in 2022, separated in 2024, and divorced in 2025. For the record, I realize this Hollywood Beat is as meandering as the ‘Bennifer’ romance timeline. Seriously though – a 6 percent Fresh rating? Their wedding video would’ve received better reviews.
Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman are going through divorce proceedings. Nicole Kidman is not a terribly uncommon name, but the odds of Urban meeting a fan with that name are a bit of a stretch, especially during a show. That’s exactly what happened when Urban was playing his last show of his most recent tour in Nashville. An audience member told the singer she was Nicole Kidman. The singer pretended to faint and hit the stage as the crowd erupted with laughter. Good luck following that with song.
Here’s one of Pete’s Pics: “Roofman” is worth a look. This well reviewed action-comedy is a true story about a man who breaks into and robs McDonald’s stores through the roof. Even after getting caught, he manages to escape prison and live in a Toys “R” Us for several months while making a plan to escape the country. The film stars Channing Tatum, Peter Dinklage, and Kirsten Dunst. It’s a really fun watch with a nice but not too preachy message.
“Pop Culture Jeopardy” has been renewed for a season two. In a related story, there’s a show called “Pop Culture Jeopardy,” and it’s already been on for a whole season! The show will be moving from Amazon Prime to Netflix and has the same ‘answer with a question’ format as the actual “Jeopardy.” Host Colin Jost is currently in talks to return to the show, which should be back in 2026.
If you’re looking for a more efficient way to watch color television, this might be a deal to check out. You can now bundle Apple TV with Peacock. Apple TV is already ad-free, but if you pair it with Peacock Premium Plus, which is Peacock’s version of ad-free, it will cost you $19.99 a month. That’s barely a savings from current prices, but if you go with the ad-supported Peacock, you can get both platforms for $14.99. Apple TV right now is currently $12.99, so that’s not a bad deal if you don’t mind a few ads.
The U.S. president, in response to the “No Kings Day” protests, released a ridiculous video of himself as a Navy fighter pilot – which is as about as make-believe as those bone spurs. While piloting the fake plane, the fake war hero president dropped excrement on peaceful protesters. The problem was, he (or his crack film crew) used Kenny Loggins’ “Danger Zone,” which was used in the film “Top Gun.” Loggins was not happy about it, and said no one asked him for his permission, and if they did, he would’ve refused. Rushing to defend the grotesque literal shitshow was the Speaker of the U.S. House and really short guy, Mike Johnson. Man, how much dirt do they have on him?
