Riverkings win on the road
Riverkings win again. Royals in playoffs. Brewers bow out as Bucks begin. Packers to take on Rodgers and Steelers.
Riverkings sweep Hudson in physical series
WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WFHR / WIRI) – The Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings remained perfect in USPHL Premier North Division play with a weekend sweep over Hudson on Friday, Oct. 17 and Saturday, Oct. 18 with scores of 6-2 and 3-2, respectively.
Rapids next play this weekend at the South Wood County Recreation Center where they will host the Northwest Express on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 24 and 25, with puck drop at 7 p.m. both nights.
The games can be heard on 105.5FM WIRI with Mike Kommer on the call.
Royals make playoffs
In the final year of the 11-player Football ranks, the Assumption Football team made the cut for the Division 7 field with its opening game coming on Friday, Oct. 24 when they play at top-seeded Cochrane-Fountain City at 7 p.m.
The Royals, seeded 8th, finished the regular season with a record of 3-6 overall, and were 3-4 in the Marawood/CWC Conference.
Brewers fall, Bucks begin season
The two major professional Milwaukee sports teams ended and began their seasons within the last week.
The Brewers had its season end at the hands of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series in a sweep with game scores of 2-1, 5-1, 3-1, 5-1.
The Dodgers will now play the Toronto Bluejays in the World Series beginning on Friday, Oct. 23.
The Bucks began their season on Wednesday, Oct. 22 when they hosted the Washington Wizards and earned the 133-120 victory.
Packers to clash with Rodgers, Steelers
The Green Bay Packers will face a familiar face on Sunday, Oct. 26 when they play at Pittsburgh at 7:20 p.m.
Green Bay will take on long-time former quarterback Aaron Rodgers as he looks to become just the 7th NFL player to have beaten every team in the league, and 5th since the league moved to 32 teams.
The Packers hold a 20-17 advantage in the series, including a win in Super Bowl 45, but have not won in Pittsburgh since 1970.
