OSHKOSH, Wis. (WISS) – October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

The 7th Annual Dine Out Against Domestic Abuse event on Thursday, Oct. 23, will benefit the Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services. More than a dozen local restaurants in Winnebago and Green Lake Counties will donate 10 percent to 20 percent of their sales that day to support survivors of domestic abuse.

This year’s event comes at a critical time. According to End Domestic Abuse Wisconsin, 110 lives were lost to domestic violence in Wisconsin in 2024 — the highest number ever recorded. Wisconsin now ranks 7th in the nation for domestic violence homicides.

“These numbers are heartbreaking,” said Courtney Van Auken, Education and Fundraising Specialist at Christine Ann. “Every statistic represents a life, a family, and a community impacted by violence. Dine Out Against Domestic Abuse gives people a simple, meaningful way to make a difference — by enjoying a meal and helping raise vital funds that support safety, advocacy, and healing. We’re incredibly grateful to our local restaurant partners and everyone who chooses to dine out in support of survivors.”

Funds raised through this event directly support Christine Ann’s comprehensive services for survivors and their families, including its new Transitional Housing Program, launched in February 2025.
