RICHLAND CENTER, WIS (WRCO) – Join Phil this Saturday night for THOSE WERE THE DAYS. Here is Phil preview of the show.

My special guest during this weekends Those Were the Days radio show will be Connie Valens. She was just eight years old when her brother Ritchie died in a plane crash after playing a concert with Buddy Holly, and the Big Bopper in Clear Lake Iowa. She will talk about the legacy of her brother’s music and how his story is motivational after all of these years. We will be pleased to spin a few Ritchie Valens tunes such as La Bamba, Donna, Come On, Let’s Go, and Oh My Head. The 1987 movie La Bamba was the story of the life of the 17-year-old singer. When the movie opened, I was on my honeymoon with my new bride, June. We decided to go see the show and she was so moved by the picture that she started sobbing at the end of the movie. As we left the theater, there was a line to see the next show, and many were staring at her leaving in a pool of tears. I felt like some were looking at me like I was the reason she was crying. Lou Diamond Phillips was amazing in the lead role, and it wasn’t my fault.

It will be great to be back with you live in the studio Saturday night. I will be taking phone calls and text requests and ringing the magic cow bell which signals trivia. The wedding last weekend was a lot of fun, but I missed you! Saturday night during Those Were the Days, it will be awesome to hook up again.
