Civic Media and WGBW 97.9 FM are excited to welcome Connie Fellman as our newest reporter in Green Bay, strengthening Civic Media’s growing statewide newsroom. Fellman is based out of our downtown WGBW studios, cementing our commitment to Local News and Timeless Hits throughout the Green Bay area.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the Civic Media news team,” says Fellman.  “Covering local news isn’t just a job—it’s a chance to be the voice of the community, to tell the stories that matter, and to keep people informed right here in Green Bay.”

An Emmy Award–winning journalist, Fellman is a familiar name, voice and face across Northeast Wisconsin. She brings decades of broadcast experience, having served as anchor, reporter, writer, and producer at three of Green Bay’s four local television stations: WFRV Local 5, WLUK Fox 11, and WGBA NBC 26.

“Connie is an experienced, capable, award-winning journalist. Along with her friendly, outgoing nature, she’s a perfect fit for what we’re doing now at WGBW. I can’t think of anyone I’d rather have handling news at 97.9 WGBW,” says Dan Markus of WGBW’s Morning Show.

Connie Fellman joins WGBW as our Green Bay reporter.

As a proud Shawano native and Green Bay resident of 30 years, Fellman knows the region inside and out. Her career has taken her from covering Packers games at Lambeau to reporting on global stories like an Ashwaubenon man’s attempt to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro, to anchoring continuous coverage during the 9/11 attacks. She looks forward to telling more stories of the people and places that make this community unique.

Beyond journalism, Fellman is an avid musician, playing trumpet with the Allouez Village Band and NEW Dixie Ramblers, volunteering to play Taps at veterans’ funerals, and rocking lead guitar and vocals with “Chick Trip,” alongside fellow Civic Media host Teri Barr on drums.

Reporter Lisa Hale, who listeners have come to expect as the voice of newscasts in North Eastern Wisconsin, will continue reporting in Oshkosh for WISS. The change will also allow her the additional flexibility to cover the Oshkosh community in more depth.
