Jung Kicks Off Campaign to Challenge Sen. Wanggaard
RACINE, Wis. (Civic Media) – Former Racine Alderman Trevor Jung launched his campaign this morning for Wisconsin’s 21st State Senate district, setting up a challenge to longtime Republican Sen. Van H. Wanggaard.
Jung announced his run at an event in Racine, joined by Democratic State Sen. Kelda Roys and Dora Drake along with other local party leaders. Roys announced her campaign for governor just yesterday.
Jung, 28, is Racine’s transit and mobility director and previously served one term as the city’s youngest alderman. He has led efforts to electrify Racine’s bus fleet, expand ridership, and secure infrastructure funding for local transit projects.

The 21st Senate district, now spanning parts of Racine and Milwaukee counties under new maps, is expected to be competitive. Wanggaard, a retired police officer, has held the seat for several terms and is a prominent GOP voice on law enforcement and public safety.
