WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WFHR / WIRI) – On Wednesday, the Wisconsin Rapids Kiwanis Club hosted an event-filled evening in Kellner.

It was a celebration of their 5th annual golf fundraiser, held at the Ridges Golf Course on August 11. Charity was the theme for the evening as 14 different non-profit organizations were recipients of $13,075 – thanks to the many generous donations given by area businesses!

Recipients

Checks ranging from $750-$1500 were distributed to the following groups:

  • Wisconsin Rapids Sports Commission
  • Special Olympics
  • First Choice Pregnancy
  • Focus Food Pantry
  • Kiwanis Club
  • Love Inc.
  • Best Christmas Ever
  • South Wood County Humane Society
  • Nekoosa K9
  • Smile for Lacy Foundation
  • Wood County K9
  • The Hannah Center
  • Boys and Girls Club
  • Swing Against Cancer

Surprise Announcement

Afterward, Josh Schoenick, president of the Wisconsin Rapids Kiwanis Club, made a surprise announcement stating that an anonymous donor was going to match the total for the evening! The event’s organizer, Bob Atkinson, shared with the crowd that the grand total for this 5-year event now stands just shy of $60,000!  A huge thank you goes out to the many sponsors and volunteers who were responsible for making this worthwhile event a reality!
