Gateway Technical College Launches National Search for Next President
KENOSHA, Wis. (WRJN) – Gateway Technical College has started its search for a new president, launching a nationwide effort to find a permanent leader.
The board released a request for proposals Wednesday to hire a firm to manage the search, which officials hope will bring a new president on board by June.
Former president Ritu Raju left in April to lead a Minnesota college. Since July, Morgan Phillips has served as interim president and will stay in the role until a permanent hire is made.

At the same time, Gateway is being recognized nationally for its work supporting first-generation college students. The college was named a 2025-26 member of the FirstGen Forward Network, an honor given to schools showing commitment to helping first-generation students succeed.
Tammi Summers, Gateway Technical College Vice President of Student Services, is proud of the commitment, “We celebrate their courage and accomplishments every day, and we remain steadfast in our promise to walk alongside them as they shape a brighter future for themselves, their families and their communities.”
Nearly 38 percent of Gateway’s 14,718 students last year were the first in their families to attend college – more than 5,500 students in total.
Gateway Technical College, with campuses in Kenosha, Racine, and Elkhorn, is a public two-year college that gets funding through state support, local property taxes, tuition and fees, and federal and state grants.
