MADISON, Wis. (CIVIC MEDIA) – Programs dedicated to assisting women who have been victims of violent crimes will receive nearly $4 million in grant funding.
According to a U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) news release, the grants will be provided by the DOJ, the Acting U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, and the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW). The funding will be used to combat violent crimes against women, as well as develop and strengthen victim service cases involving domestic violence, sexual assault, and more.
The Wisconsin DOJ received $3,030,186 for the STOP (Services, Training, Officers, Prosecutors) Violence Against Women Formula Grant Program. The program was created in 2005, and it directs grants dollars to states and territories to assist rape crisis centers and nonprofit, nongovernmental organizations that provide core services to victims of sexual assault.
