AG Kaul joins coalition cracking down on robocalls, sends warning letters to telecom companies
MADISON, Wis (CIVIC MEDIA) – Attorney General Kaul has joined a multistate coalition in sending warning letters to almost 40 telecom companies as part of “Operation Robocall Roundup,” an initiative to crack down on robocalls across the country.
Wisconsin’s Attorney General announced his participation in the operation in a news release, stating that the 37 letters sent demand that the companies are proactive in stopping the allegedly illegal robocalls from being routed through their networks. The coalition also sent the warning letters to 99 downstream providers that accept call traffic from the companies.
“Wisconsinites shouldn’t have to receive so many irritating robocalls,” said AG Kaul. “We remain committed to working to decrease the number of these calls.”
The Anti-Robocall Litigation Task Force was created in 2022 by 51 attorney generals to take action against fraudulent and illegal robocalls across the country. The full list of telecom companies that received warnings letter can be viewed here.
