MADISON, Wis (CIVIC MEDIA) – Wisconsin’s June unemployment data was released by the state’s Department of Workforce Development (DWD) Wednesday.

Of all of Wisconsin’s metropolitan areas, unemployment rates decreased in 10 areas, with rates in three not changing at all. Over the past year, rates decreased in 12 metropolitan locations. The unemployment data in Sheboygan, WI stayed the same.

The majority of the state’s cities saw rates go down – unemployment in 24 of Wisconsin’s 35 largest cities decreased. Rates increased in six cities and the data did not waver in five. The yearly trends saw rates decrease in 22 cities, increase in seven, and stay the same in six.

In regard to counties, the only area that had an increase in unemployment last month is Menominee County. Rates decreased in 63 counties over that span; eight counties maintained the same rate. In the scope of the broader year, rates went up in four counties, stayed the same in seven, and went down in 61 counties.

For additional information on Wisconsin’s unemployment data, visit the DWD’s Wisconomy website.
