WISCONSIN (CIVIC MEDIA) – Another weekend of nice summer weather in Wisconsin was spoiled by smoke from Canadian wildfires.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) issued an air quality advisory across the state over the weekend, with the heaviest smoke settling in the northern region. Officials say while the smoke remains, residents should be on the lookout for signs of respiratory issues, like shortness of breath and fatigue. People with chronic respiratory issues should limit their time outdoors and keep medication for quick relief on hand.

Meanwhile, northern Wisconsin Congressman Tom Tiffany is asking the U.S. ambassador to Canada to put pressure on her country to improve its forest management practices. The letter claims that a lack of active forest management has contributed to the increasingly severe wildfires, limiting the ability of Midwest residents to enjoy the outdoors during the summer due to dangerous air quality conditions.
