Oshkosh proclaims Pride Month as celebration moves to Oshkosh Arena
OSHKOSH, Wis (WISS) – As June winds down, the city of Oshkosh is getting ready for its Pride Celebration. Oshkosh Pride is Sunday, June 29, from 12 to 7 p.m. at the Oshkosh Arena. In advance of the celebration, the city proclaimed June as Pride Month in Oshkosh.

Mayor Matt Mugerauer made the proclamation during the Oshkosh Common Council meeting on Tuesday.
“I urge all residents to recognize the contributions made by members of the LGBTQ community. And to actively promote the principles of equality, liberty, and justice,” Mugerauer said while reading the proclamation.
New Location for Pride
In the meantime, Oshkosh Pride Inc. announced on their Facebook page that the celebration will be held, not at the Leach Amphitheater, where it has been held since 2023, but at the alternate site of the Oshkosh Arena.
The Oshkosh Pride team is concerned that forecasted thunderstorms and high heat indices may dampen the celebration. So, they are using the alternate location of the Oshkosh Arena.
“We’re very grateful to the Oshkosh Arena under its VenuWorks management team. They’re such a joy to work with. They are as affirming as can be for the LGBTQ+ community,” said TJ Hobbs with Oshkosh Pride. “We met with them a number of times to make sure they shared our safety ideals and our commitment to being there for our community in the case of inclement weather.”
Noon until 2 p.m. will be “sensory-friendly hours” where there will be minimal sound, dimmed overhead lighting, and no active performers, but plenty of community to be had.
“Thank you for understanding as we prioritize the accessibility needs of our community, per our mission statement,” the organization said in its post. “Pride is for everyone, and we’re grateful to the Oshkosh Arena under its Venuworks of Oshkosh management team for hosting us!”

The Pride Celebration, from noon to 7 p.m. at the arena, is open to everyone. The 21+ official after-party will take place at the Gibson from 7 to 11 p.m. It is for adults only.
