WISCONSIN (CIVIC MEDIA) – Heavy smoke will begin to cross into Wisconsin overnight Monday, creating hazardous air quality.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) issued an Air Quality Advisory that will be in effect from 12 a.m. to noon Tuesday, June 3. The Air Quality Index categorizes the air at that time as Red, “Unhealthy”. The alert was issued for most northwest Wisconsin counties.

The smoke will come into the state from the northwest and cause the air quality to degrade to the “Very Unhealthy” category. The smoke will travel from the northwest to the southeast through Tuesday, which will begin to make an impact at a statewide level.

The DNR advises individuals in sensitive groups stay inside and limit outside activity as much as possible. Individuals with heart conditions are encouraged to contact their health provider.
