MADISON, Wis (CIVIC MEDIA) – AAA is activating its Tow to Go program over Memorial Day weekend in an effort to keep impaired drivers from getting behind the wheel.

If someone knows they shouldn’t drive and they don’t have a backup plan, they can call AAA. A tow truck driver will come get the individual and their car and take them home as long as it’s within 10 miles.

Over the last 30 years, Tow to Go has gotten nearly 30,000 drivers home safely.

People don’t need to be AAA members to use the service. Staff emphasize Tow to Go should be a last resort, not a plan.

The service is available in Wisconsin starting at 6 p.m. Friday, May 23 and ends at 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 27.
