ITHACA, Wis (WRCO / WRCE) – Ithaca was a winner over Weston 8-3 in high school baseball Thursday night. The win by the Bulldogs handed the Eagles their first conference loss after 11 wins. In their previous matchup, Weston defeated the Bulldogs 2-0.

It was a windy night at Ithaca, yet five home runs were hit over the fence. Weston started the night with a first inning with a two-run home run from Trevor Westphal. The Silver Eagles went up 3-0 on a solo home run by Brady Westphal.

Ithaca then scored eight unanswered runs. Four runs crossed the plate in the second inning. Cody Byrnes and Hewston Boland both singled in two runs as Ithaca went up 4-3. They then picked up back-to-back home runs from Boland and Sammy Clary; Hewston Boland hit his second home run of the game in the sixth inning. He finished three for four with 5 RBIs for the game. Clary, Caden Keller, Cody Byrnes, and Channing Brown all had two hits. Garrett Jennings was two for three for Weston.

Sammy Clary went the distance with nine strikeouts, no walks, only giving up six hits. Isaac Jennings started and worked four innings from the mound, giving up 10 hits and striking out eight with no walks. Trevor Westphal struck out two and gave up three hits in the final two innings of the game.

With the 8-3 win, Ithaca is now 10-3 and 14-4 overall. They will host North Crawford in a conference game on Monday. They have a non-conference game at 10 a.m. Saturday at River Valley. Weston still leads the Ridge and Valley at 11-1. Seneca, following a 4-3 win over North Crawford Thursday, is a game back at 11-2. The Eagles still have to play De Soto in a makeup game next week
