Rapids Transmission Grand Reopening
Formerly R&R Transmissions, Rapids Transmission is a family owned business with a long legacy in our area.
Wisconsin Rapids, Wis (WFHR, WIRI) – Rapids Transmission is holding a grand reopening to celebrate their new name and new owners. The party planned on Saturday, May 31 is a chance for people to meet Michelle and Adam Rogus, tour the business, and enjoy tacos and ice cream. The couple purchased the auto shop from Adam’s uncle, but the history of the business goes back much further.
History
The original business, called Rapids Transmission, opened in Wisconsin Rapids in the 1980s. Adam’s father and uncle opened the business initially, but weren’t as successful as they’d hoped. They ended up closing the business and moving away from the area to be with family. Adam’s uncle Ray moved back in the 1990s and opened R&R Transmissions in Nekoosa. In the last decade or so, Ray moved the business to its current location in Wisconsin Rapids on the corner of 8th Street South and Chestnut Street.
Family Business
Michelle and Adam Rogus moved their daughters to enroll them in Immanuel Lutheran School. Michelle started working at R&R Transmissions, and Adam visited the shop often. They were looking for a business they could run in the area. Adam’s uncle Ray was ready to retire, and the timing worked out for everyone involved. Uncle Ray asked Michelle and Adam to change the name of the business after he retired. Adam decided to bring it full circle and changed the name back to Rapids Transmission.
Full Service Auto Shop
The grand reopening is serving more than one purpose. Michelle and Adam want to get their name out there as the new owners. They also want to thank the community for being loyal customers. The business may have new owners, but the mechanics are the same. They also want people to know about all the services they provide. Transmission may be in the title of the business, but they offer services that cover your vehicle bumper to bumper. The only thing they don’t work on are tires, but they have a cousin that does! Rapids Transmission has partnerships with other local shops and can refer you to a reliable tire dealer.
Reopening Party
The reopening party is Saturday, May 31st from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Heart of Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce will have the ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. Rapids Transmission is a family friendly business with an interactive waiting room for the kids. You can tour the business, have a free taco and scoop of ice cream, and get your face painted. Rosco the Rat may also make an appearance, as Witter Park is just across the street.
