DODGEVILLE, Wis (WRCO / WRCE) – Iowa County has provided an update regarding the suspicious activity detected in its computer network environment.

After detecting the initial activity on April 28, the county began working with cybersecurity experts to investigate. It was determined that the county’s computer environment was impacted by ransomware.

While the outside experts’ investigation into the scope and nature of that event remains ongoing, officials are working to restore and rebuild the impacted portions of the environment. That process will take some time.

Accordingly, there may be delays in the ability to provide information, respond to requests, or otherwise work with partners.

While Iowa County works on restoring its computer network system to full capacity, it is also partnering with experts to further bolster its security and determine what information was impacted.
