RICHLAND CENTER, Wis (WRCO / WRCE) – Richland Center won 6-5 over River Valley in an exciting softball game on Thursday night. The visiting Hornets won for the second time this season over the Blackhawks.

Chloe Darling finished the game giving up three hits but striking out two hitters.  Mckenzie Woodhouse pitched the first two-plus innings for River Valley and Tessa Schluter finished the game, giving up two hits.

Ella Hillebrand doubled in two runs to give River Valley the early lead. The Hornets plated three runs in the third and two in the fourth to take a 5 -2 lead. The Blackhawks scored two in the sixth and the Hornets added an insurance run in the seventh, which proved to be the winning run. River Valley picked up three hits in the bottom of the seventh. Trailing by a run, the Blackhawks potential tying run was tagged out at the plate by Hornets catcher Maddie McGlynn for the game’s final out.
