High School Seniors Choose Colleges, NFL and Spring Playoff Dates

College decisions by local HS seniors, and important NFL and spring playoff scheduling dates and releases coming up.

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis (CIVIC MEDIA) – 10 Lincoln High School seniors have committed to higher education and athletics.

On Tuesday, May 6, 10 Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln seniors let their decisions be known on continuing their athletic and academic careers.

In front of their friends, coaches, and families, these student athletes made their next decision on their future plans:

  • Lexie Cour is going to Division III Concordia for golf.
  • Annabelle Ross is going to Division II St. Cloud State as a preferred walk-on for softball.
  • Hayley Jensen is going to Division III University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point for tennis.
  • Mya Lopez is going to Division III University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point for lacrosse.
  • Elias Heckman is going to Division III University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point for football.
  • Brett Simonsen is going to Division III University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point for baseball.
  • Landyn Freeman is going to Division III Ripon College for baseball.
  • Lawson Hephner is going to Division III Ripon College for football.
  • Colten McMillen is going to Division III Ripon College for football.
  • Carter Freeman is going to Division III Augsburg University to wrestle.

These ten students joined the ranks of Wisconsin Rapids’ Tanner Gormanson as he selected the University of Wisconsin- Parkside to wrestle and Nekoosa’s Amya Leverance to go to UWSP to wrestle

NFL to release schedule

On Wednesday, May 14, the National Football League will release the 2025-2026 schedule for all 32 teams.

All schedules will officially be released at 7 p.m. with major sports networks dedicating shows to the occasion.

It has been announced that the NFL will play international games in Berlin, Dublin, Madrid, London and Sao Paulo.

There will also be three games played on both Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Spring Playoffs on the Horizon

The high school sports year is drawing to a close, but the spring sports calendar is in full swing with important dates on the horizon.

Softball seeding will begin on Wednesday, May 14; baseball on Monday, May 19; girls’ soccer on Sunday, May 25; track and field Regionals and boys’ tennis sub-sectionals on Tuesday, May 27.
