WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis (WFHR/WIRI) – The Wisconsin Beef Council (WBC) encourages everyone to be a part of celebrating beef month. To help make that happen, they are working with Kwik Trip and Pit Boss.

What is the Wisconsin Beef Council?

The Wisconsin Beef Council is a producer-led, non-profit organization funded by the $1.00 per head assessment on all cattle sold in the state of Wisconsin, per the Federal Beef Promotion and Research Act & Order. For every dollar contributed, half of the amount remains in Wisconsin for local beef promotion, while the other half is forwarded to the Cattlemen’s Beef Board. The purpose of the Council is to fund beef promotion, research and consumer education activities supporting Wisconsin’s $2.1 billion beef industry. The WBC operates under the guidance of its Board of Directors. The Board is composed of representatives from cattle-related organizations around the state of Wisconsin.

Sweepstakes

“Both our dairy industry and the beef industry play a really important role in providing protein for our families and even for our social gatherings that we might enjoy,” according to Kaitlyn Riley, Director of Communication & Outreach for the WBC. To celebrate beef month, the WBC will have advertisements at Kwik Trip. Both the pump and in-store displays will be celebrating beef’s nutritional value. The WBC will also allow people the chance to win a way to cook up beef: the Board will be giving away a Pit Boss Navigator 850 Connected Grill. You can use your Kwik Rewards app to enter. You can also enter by purchasing the beef in store.

Beef’s Nutritional Value

What exactly is the role beef can play in a nutritious diet? One three-ounce serving of beef has 25 grams of protein and 10 essential nutrients. That same serving size is only about 170 calories, depending on the cut you choose. It can play a positive role in people’s diet. On the Wisconsin Beef Council’s website, they have a list of recipes that have been certified by the American Heart Association. These recipes can be great ways to incorporate beef into a healthy diet.
