Hornet Softball drops 9 inning conference game

RICHLAND CENTER, Wis (WRCO / WRCE) – The Richland Center softball team lost in 9 innings to Dodgeville 4-3 last night.

The Hornets continue to play the SWC contenders in close games. Freshman Kyree Fischer had 3 hits in 4 at bats including a solo home run in the 2nd inning.

The Hornets broke a 1-1 tie in the 5th when Ella Clements had an rbi groundout, then a bases loaded walk to Tatum Reyzek pushed home a run and Richland Center led 3-1

. Emma Dougherty hit a double that tied the game in the bottom of the 7th and the teams played two more innings before the Dodgers won the game on a walk-off single by Rylee Forsythe in the bottom of the 9th.Kyree Fischer pitched 8 and 1/3 innings for the Hornets giving up 8 hits and four runs (1 earned). She struck out 7 and walked 5. Ava Lord pitched for Dodgeville and surrendered 5 hits and 3 runs over 9 innings striking out 6 and walking 4.

Richland Center will host Mauston in a non-conference matchup tonight at 5 pm.

The Hornets will honor the 1996 WIAA state qualifying team between the Varsity and JV game tonight at approximately 6:30 pm.
