No Essays, No Fees: Racine Students Offered Automatic Admission to 10 UW Campuses

RACINE, Wis. (WRJN) – Racine high school students can now bypass the traditional college applications process. Through the statewide Direct Admit program, students can forget about the essays for entry into 10 University of Wisconsin schools.

The initiative automatically offers admission to qualifying students based on their junior-year GPA and coursework, eliminating essays, fees, and lengthy applications.

Participating campuses include UW-Parkside, Stevens Point, Oshkosh, Green Bay, Milwaukee, Platteville, River Falls, Stout, Superior, and Whitewater.

Students need only to opt in through their school, with admission decisions sent via email and mail starting in the summer before senior year.

The program aims to remove barriers to higher education by streamlining access for students who meet academic benchmarks.

Eligible students must complete core credits in English, math, science, and social studies. The Class of 2026 has until May 1, 2025, to opt in.
