GREEN BAY, WI- (WGBW) – Spring hasn’t even officially begun, and yet, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services says it’s time to start thinking about ticks!
The department recently posted to social media that adult ticks have already been collected from the environment and are active.
To prevent tick bites, the DHS recommends:
- Use insect repellent on exposed skin and clothes,
- Wear long-sleeved shirts, pants, and tall socks when outdoors
- Avoid contact with ticks
- Check for ticks on clothes, gear, and pets after being outside.
Lyme disease, spotted fever, and other illnesses are spread by tick bites.
