AG Kaul Unveils Resource for Tenants Affected by Milwaukee Landlord Deal
MADISON, Wis – (WAUK) – People impacted by a ruling involving a Milwaukee property management company have a new resource. Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul announced the launch of a FAQ page for those affected by the settlement with Milwaukee landlord Youssef “Joe” Berrada and Berrada Properties Management, Inc.
The settlement resolves a landlord/tenant enforcement action filed in November 2021.
The agreement includes a payment of over $1.7 million and the implementation of several remediation programs.
Berrada Properties Management will implement an income-based rental program, participate in eviction diversion, establish a $1.3 million rent assistance credit account, and offer up to $400,000 in move-out assistance.
Affected tenants can find information about the settlement, timelines, and programs at BerradaSettlementFAQ.wi.gov.
The case was brought by the DOJ after referral from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP).
