RACINE, Wis (WRJN) — The Racine Area Veterans Legacy Museum and Veterans Center is marking Black History Month with a special exhibit featuring local veterans and their contributions.

This month, the museum highlights Robert Turner, a USAF Vietnam veteran who also served on the USAF Vietnam City Council and state assembly, and Frances Jones, a WWII WAC and commander of American Legion Post 546.

The exhibit also honors Fredrick Penfold, a WWI veteran of the 32nd Division, and other Racine chaplains who served during wartime.

The museum showcases the stories and artifacts of Racine’s military and veterans, using community donations of uniforms, pictures, and other memorabilia.

Visitors can explore the exhibits on Mondays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or schedule an appointment. For more information, call (262) 635-0120 or visit the Racine Veterans Center Facebook page.
