MAZOMANIE, Wis. (WMDX) – School was canceled Friday for the Wisconsin Heights School District after reports of a potential threat.
Administrators sent out an email to families notifying them that school would be canceled. In that email, it said there was a “potential safety threat”.
An update Friday afternoon from the Dane County Sheriff’s Office said someone called them to report the potential threat. It did not detail what that threat was. Deputies involved the state Office of School Safety.
The sheriff’s office said after investigating and interviewing students, they found no immediate danger. They couldn’t confirm any criminal activity, so now any disciplinary action would be left up to administrators.
Authorities said the system worked exactly as it should have: someone reported a school threat to law enforcement, they got to work investigating, and students were kept safe while they looked into it.
