MILWAUKEE, Wis (Civic Media) – The Milwaukee housing market ended 2024 with a slight increase in sales, but experts say the numbers aren’t that great.
According to the Greater Milwaukee Association of Realtors, home sales in Milwaukee went up by 2.8% in 2024, amounting to only 472 more units sold than the prior year.
December brought some hope for a better 2025, with home sales jumping 15.2%. Ozaukee County pulled most of that average up, with a 56.6% increase from November. Racine County was the only in the region to see a December sales decrease, year-to-year.
The realtors say it’s tough to get a home now due to several factors, including higher interest rates, fewer people willing to sell, and not enough new homes being built.
The average home price in Milwaukee in the 4th Quarter reached $443,605, up 6.2% from that same time in 2023. The highest average prices are in Waukesha, Washington, and Walworth Counties, all above an average of $500,000.
