Regional 911 Outage
*6:00 AM update (Tuesday January 14) – The fiber cut repair was completed and network access restored during the early morning hours on Tuesday January 14th. WRCO News confirmed with the Richland County Sheriff’s department that 9-1-1 services were functioning normally. The Ithaca School District reported network access was restored and deemed stable at 3:30 AM on Tuesday morning as well.
*7:30 PM Central update – outage continues.
RICHLAND CENTER, Wis (WRCO / WRCE) – Richland County is currently experiencing a 911 outage. If you need immediate assistance from Police, Fire, or EMS please call 608-647-2106.
Richland County Emergency Management is monitoring the situation and will provide updates as they become available.
The unofficial cause of the outage is a fiber cut between Sun Prairie and Portage.
This outage is affecting several other counties 9-1-1 services as well.
The Columbia Co. Sheriff’s Office reported the outage in a Facebook post around 2:30 p.m. Monday. Anyone who needs immediate assistance from police, fire or EMS was told to call 608-742-4166 x1.
In Adams County, the Sheriff’s Office said around 2:50 p.m. that its 911 and admin lines are down. It asked people to call 608-472-3119 or 608-472-3219 for emergencies and non-emergency calls.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office said around 2:35 p.m. that its phone lines were down, and anyone with an emergency should call 608-369-4832. The department said technicians were working to fix the issue.
Iowa County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook just before 3 p.m. that its services were down. It still encouraged people to call 911, as their call will be redirected to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office. Lafayette County dispatchers will relay the information down to those who are responding. Iowa County Emergency Management said a fiber line was cut. The Iowa County non-emergency number, 608-930-9500, is also still working.
This outage is also affecting school districts in our area. The Ithaca District first reported an outage, which continues as of 7:30 PM, at 1:50 PM this afternoon. The outage is affecting internet traffic only, as all other internal and external services are currently accessible.
