MADISON, Wis. — Baseball is secured in the Brew City for a few more decades.  It’s a victory for area sports fans with the Southeast Wisconsin Professional Baseball Park District approving a new lease agreement for American Family Field, ensuring that the Milwaukee Brewers will remain in the state through 2050.

In a statement today, Gov. Tony Evers says he’s celebrating the approval. It comes after Evers signed Wisconsin Acts 40 and 41 last year and followed months of bipartisan negotiations. The acts provide $500 million in state and local funding for stadium renovations and maintenance.

The state will contribute $365.8 million, while Milwaukee County and the city of Milwaukee will each provide $67.8 million. The Brewers will also contribute $150 million through 2050.

“This is a home run for Wisconsin,” Evers said. “The Brewers are a critical part of our state’s economic success, generating billions of dollars annually and supporting hundreds of local jobs.”
