Three Boys and Girls Clubs to split $30,000 grant

ASHLAND, Wis. (December 10, 2024) – Xcel Energy is proud to announce a $30,000 grant has been
awarded to three Boys and Girls Clubs on Native Lands: Boys and Girls Club of Lac Courte Oreilles, Boys
and Girls Club of the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, and Boys and Girls Club of the Red
Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.
“We are thrilled to support these incredible organizations that provide essential services and opportunities
to youth in their communities,” said Karl Hoesly, president, Xcel Energy-Wisconsin and Michigan. “Our
commitment to community service is at the heart of everything we do, and we are honored to contribute to
the growth and development of these Boys and Girls Clubs.”
The grant is part of Xcel Energy Foundation’s ongoing efforts to invest in community vitality and support
organizations that align with the company’s values. The funds will be used to enhance programs and
services that promote education, health, and leadership among the youth in these communities.
“We want to express our gratitude to Xcel Energy for supporting our Club”, said Paige Moilanen, director,
Boys and Girls Club of the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. “This funding has enabled staff
development, including attending the BGCA Native Summit in Chandler, Arizona, where our team
enhanced their skills to better serve our youth. This partnership is invaluable, and we look forward to
continuing to build great futures together. Miigwech!”
The Boys and Girls Club of Lac Courte Oreilles, acting as the fiscal agent, is distributing the grant to
effectively support the specific needs of each club. This collaboration aims to foster a stronger, more
resilient community by empowering young people to reach their full potential.
Xcel Energy Foundation focuses on three main areas: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math
(STEM) Career Pathways, Environmental Sustainability, and Community Vitality. Through these focus
areas, the Foundation aims to create lasting, positive impacts in the communities it serves.
