WAUKESHA, Wis. (Civic Media) — Two LGBTQ+ advocacy groups have filed a federal civil rights complaint against the School District of Waukesha, alleging violations of Title IX following recent policy changes.

Fair Wisconsin and GSAFE filed the complaint with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, claiming the district’s new policies mandating pronoun use consistent with students’ birth sex creates a hostile environment for transgender and nonbinary students.

The complaint follows similar filings against Kettle Moraine and Muskego-Norway districts, among others.

School District of Waukesha officials said in a statement they have not received an official complaint.
