The Chippewa Valley Health Cooperative has shared an update on plans for a new area hospital and invited residents to an informational meeting.

According to a social media post, a third-party feasibility study for the new independent community hospital was recently completed, and the organization is preparing to move forward with their plans. The study looked into the location, configuration, and sustainability of the planned healthcare facility and found a clear need for it.

The update also referenced plans from Aspirus Health for a new hospital in Chippewa Falls. The organization is currently selecting an exact location for their new facility, and plans to open the hospital somewhere with convenient access to Highway 29 with room for expansion.

According to their update, the Chippewa Valley Health Cooperative plans on offering a significantly greater range of services in the new independent community hospital than the Aspirus Health facility. Specifically, their plans will include labor and delivery services, full cancer care services, and comprehensive surgical services.

The facility will be staffed with physicians from the OakLeaf Medical Network, which has also opened up a number of new clinics in the region since the closure of HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire and HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls.

In addition to sharing the results of the feasibility study, the Chippewa Valley Health Cooperative also noted that they had received the 501c3 designation from the Internal Revenue Service, officially qualifying it as a nonprofit. The organization is inviting area residents to an informational meeting to share their future plans and answer questions on December 9th at the Heyde Center in Chippewa Falls.
