The Richland Center City Council held a public hearing at last night’s (Tuesday) meeting. This public hearing was part of the process of working with the Wisconsin DOT – Bureau of Aeronautics to identify projects and gain funding for the operation and capital improvement of the Richland Airport. Following the public hearing, the council approved petitioning the Secretary of Transportation for Airport Improvement Aid for the airport. Proposed improvements include: Land Acquisition; the Procurement of Snow Removal Equipment; Reconfiguring, reconstructing, or rehabilitating taxiways, taxiway connectors and associated lighting and signs, the Apron, Runway 17/35 & associated lighting; to Conduct an Airport Master Plan/Exhibit; T-Hangar Construction; Construction of a Maintenance building; and Crack fill and seal coat Runway 17/35. The council also approved an agency agreement and Federal Block Owner Assurances which is part of the process of working with the Wisconsin DOT – Bureau of Aeronautics to identify projects, gain funding, and execute projects for the

Richland Airport. The agreement authorizes the Secretary of Transportation to act as the City’s agent in the matter of the airport development and offers an assurance by the City that it will adhere to the conditions of the grant funds.
