GREEN BAY, WI–(WGBW&WISS)– The City of Green Bay will spend over $109 thousand dollars to disassemble and move the statues and monument at Packers Heritage Trail Plaza.

The Plaza holds statues of Bart Starr, Paul Hornung, team co-founder George Whitney Calhoun, and others. The plaza has been in downtown Green Bay since 2013. However, the city approved plans for a 268-unit luxury apartment building to be built on the site. Packers Heritage Plaza is at the corner of North Washington and Cherry Streets in the Downtown area.

Packers Heritage Trail, Inc. sued the city to keep the monument where it is. However, since then, they’ve come to an agreement requiring the city to remove and transfer the contents to Packers Heritage, Inc.

Green Bay’s Redevelopment Authority will vote on the contract with Miron Construction for $109,701 to remove and transfer the statues and monuments during its meeting on Thursday, November 7th at 1:30 PM.
