MADISON, Wis. (Civic Media) — Future troopers are being sought in the state.  The Wisconsin State Patrol is now recruiting, with applications being accepted for both traditional hires and those looking to transfer from other departments.

The agency is seeking candidates for its 2025 Recruit Classes, set to begin training in July.

“We are looking for applicants who want to make a positive impact in our communities,” State Patrol Superintendent Tim Carnahan said. “As law enforcement officers, we have the opportunity to save lives and create a safer Wisconsin.”

Troopers and inspectors are assigned statewide to enforce traffic laws and ensure safety on highways. The State Patrol also offers specialized roles including pilots, K-9 handlers, and crash reconstruction experts.

Qualified candidates must pass physical, background, and psychological screenings. Accepted applicants receive paid training at the State Patrol Academy in Fort McCoy.

The State Patrol is hosting virtual information sessions and in-person recruiter meetings through January to answer questions from potential candidates.
