APPLETON, WI – (WGBW & WISS) – The proposed 2025 budget for the City of Appleton in 2025 calls for a 4.2% increase in spending. However, the budget authored by Mayor Jake Woodford will result in a slight decrease in property taxes. The majority of homeowners in Appleton will see decreases in the assessed tax rate.

The 2025 budget lists over $199 million dollars in expenditures including a 3% increase in the cost of health insurance compared to an 18% increase in the 2024 budget.

Applying the total estimated assessed value to the tax levy results in the following projected assessed tax rates:

  • Outagamie County – $6.92, a decrease of 11 cents of 1.60%
  • Calumet County – $6.66, a decrease of 28 cents or 4.09%
  • Winnebago County – $7.21, an increase of 68 cents of 10.50%

A full copy of the 694-page budget is available on the city’s website: Here.

A budget listening session is scheduled before the Common Council meeting on Wednesday from 3 to 5 pm in the Council Chambers in City Hall. A budget public hearing will be November 6th at 6 pm at City Hall, and the council will vote on the budget November 13th at 6 pm.
