MILWAUKEE, Wis (Civic Media) – In a small, packed room at the Milwaukee Police Association headquarters, Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance took to a podium to rally support for the Trump/Vance ticket, emphasizing the need for what he calls a pro-law enforcement administration.
A police union representative, standing before a “Back the Blue” backdrop, stated that his organization would support the Trump/Vance ticket.
The event, which featured speeches from local officers, served as a platform for Vance to criticize Vice President Kamala Harris’s policies, which Vance argued have been detrimental to public safety and law enforcement efforts.
Harris meanwhile, has been running on her record as a former prosecutor, and promises to support police.
The discussion also touched on the challenges faced by the Milwaukee Police Department, including staffing shortages and budget constraints. Vance attributed these issues to broader national policies, including immigration, suggesting that resources are being diverted away from local law enforcement to support undocumented immigrants.
Vance’s comments come ahead of Harris’s scheduled visit to Milwaukee next Tuesday, a visit that comes on day two of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
The Milwaukee Police Association president says approximately 100 officers from their department will be traveling to Chicago to assist with security and other needs during the Democratic National Convention next week.
