By Lisa M. HaleOSHKOSH, WI – (WGBW & WISS) – The Oshkosh Area School District Board of Education appoints Molly Smiltneek to fill a vacant board seat. Smiltneek will fill the spot vacated by Liz Szilagyi who resigned in June.
The school board interviewed four candidates during a special board meeting Thursday, August 8th. Voters will elect a candidate in the April 2025 election.
Smiltneek is a parent and an attorney working in immigration law.
“Every student has the right to a quality education and they have a right to learn,” Smiltneek said in a press release from the Oshkosh Area School District. “ I am committed to engaging in constructive dialogue and making informed decisions that prioritize the best interests of our district, starting with our students and staff.”
