Ten years ago, Perry found himself entangled in America’s opioid epidemic, facing a profound personal struggle threatening his life and career.

“I was just trying to deal with severe pain from a medical condition and before I knew it, I was in way over my head,” Perry says.

His path towards recovery wasn’t easy, but it has been transformative. Perry openly shares his story of battling addiction and reclaiming his life through music.

“I reached a point where I had enough. I decided to focus on my health and change my environment,” he explains. “And music was my salvation.”

Perry’s recovery was supported by the Affordable Care Act, which allowed him to address his medical issues and find the help he needed.

Now, with a renewed artistic vision and a healthier outlook on life, Perry’s music is taking on extra depth and meaning.

“My experiences have shaped who I am and my music,” Perry explains. “Coming out on the other side of the darkness, you find a strength and realness that you carry with you.”

Perry’s resilience is evident in his performances. His popular original, “The Story Song,” highlights his evolution and personal growth. And his admiration for Jimi Hendrix shines through it as he scatters his music with a sense of homage and innovation.

“When you come out of something like this, you have a personal power,” Perry says. “You realize you can take on whatever life throws at you. My shows are now a celebration of this personal journey and an unwavering passion for music.”

Mojo Perry’s upcoming performance at AtwoodFest in Madison on Saturday, July 27 at 6:45 pm, promises to be a celebration of his journey and his unwavering passion for music. Fans can expect a dynamic show featuring his beloved cigar box guitars and the soulful sounds that define his unique style.
