MILWAUKEE, Wis (Civic Media) — The Milwaukee Brewers are performing extensive maintenance on all escalators at American Family Field following a malfunction that injured 11 fans last month.

Brewers spokesperson Tyler Barnes announced Tuesday that the work, typically reserved for the off-season or extended road trips, was expedited.

“We decided to move forward to ensure all escalators were functioning at one hundred percent,” Barnes said.

The maintenance, performed by an outside vendor during the team’s recent road trip, comes in response to a June 29 incident where an escalator malfunction sent fans “flying” after a game against the Chicago Cubs.

While some escalators have been fully serviced, others await necessary parts. As a result, several units will remain out of operation for this weeks games.

“Brewers event staff will direct fans to nearby units that are operational,” Barnes assured ticketholders, particularly those with seats in the upper decks.
