OakLeaf Medical Network has announced it will open two urgent care facilities in the Chippewa Valley this month.

According to a press release from the organization, the new locations will be in Chippewa Falls, which opened on Monday, and Menomonie, which is scheduled to open on June 17.

The Chippewa Falls urgent care location will be part of the existing OakLeaf Clinic on Lakeland Drive. From now until July 1st, urgent care services will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. After July 1st, the urgent care hours will be extended to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and the clinic will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The urgent care location in Menomonie was purchased from Prevea and will be shared with OakLeaf’s Foot and Ankle Clinic on Stout Road. That clinic will have similar hours to the Chippewa Falls clinic, including the extended hours as of July 1st.

Both urgent care locations will include x-ray and lab services, and will be staffed by providers who had previously worked for Prevea. Their opening comes at a critical time for the health care field in the Chippewa Valley as it struggles to address the loss of two hospitals and a number of clinics.

Dr. Erik Dickson, medical director for Urgent Care at OakLeaf Clinics, said in the press release “Thousands of patients in Chippewa Falls, Menomonie and the surrounding areas that need urgent treatment can now be treated at these Urgent Care facilities. We hope that having this Urgent Care capacity will mean that Eau Claire emergency rooms will see fewer patients, thus helping them lower wait times.”
