HARTLAND, Wis. (Civic Media) — A symbol of healing and remembrance is in Hartland through the weekend. The Wall That Heals is a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., and is here for a four-day visit.

Since its unveiling on Veterans Day 1996, the traveling exhibit has visited nearly 700 communities across the United States, bringing the memorial’s legacy to millions of veterans and their families. A statement says ‘The Wall’ enables those who have struggled to confront their memories an opportunity to experience the memorial’s healing power within their own communities.

The exhibit, which includes a mobile Education Center, will be open 24 hours a day, until its closing on Sunday, June 2nd at 2:00 pm. Admission is free and open to all.

The Wall That Heals was escorted into Hartland on May 28th. That involved nearly 3,000 vehicles. The display bears the names of more than 58,000 Americans who lost their lives in the Vietnam War, etched in chronological order by date of casualty.

During its 2023 season, The Wall That Heals traveled nearly 18,000 miles and visited 32 communities across the country, spreading its healing legacy to more than 222,000 visitors. Guided tours of the exhibit were provided to over 21,000 individuals, offering a deeper understanding of the Vietnam War and its impact.
