The Richland Hospital and Clinics has announce that the laboratory teams at both the Muscoda Health Center (MHC) and Spring Green Medical Center (SGMC) were recently awarded the COLA Laboratory Excellence Award by their accreditor, COLA Inc. This award signifies the laboratory’s commitment to performing quality patient testing and superior overall laboratory practices. The Laboratory Excellence Award is achieved by those COLA laboratories that are compliant with all COLA essential and required criteria at the time of their on-site survey and have demonstrated successful proficiency testing for the prior three testing events. Laboratory Director Dana Wilson, MT (ASCP), says the awards are a significant achievement.
Like other medical laboratories, the MHC and SGMC labs contract with an outside agency for accreditation. COLA Inc. is a leading national laboratory accreditor, whose program and standards enable clinical laboratories and staff to meet the United States Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) and other regulatory requirements.
