Racine, Wis (WRJN) – Salmon-A-Rama is celebrating its 50th anniversary and this year marks a return to what used to be. The entertainment aspect is back with organizers putting out more information in the past few days.

The event will be held from Friday, July 12th to Sunday, July 21st at Racine’s Festival Hall grounds, a return to the venue where it was previously held. The event committee says they have been diligently working to plan a series of festivities to commemorate this special occasion. Multiple sponsors, including Enjoy Mount Pleasant, Visit Racine County, and the City of Racine, have joined forces to make this event possible.

According to leaders with Salmon Unlimited, this year’s festival will offer four times more event space than previous years, allowing for a wider range of activities and attractions to be enjoyed by festival-goers. The festivities will kick off on Friday, July 12th, with fireworks at Rotary Park. Live music will be a constant presence throughout the festival, with performances scheduled every night from Friday the 12th through Saturday, July 20th. The lineup will feature a diverse range of bands.

In addition to the live music, the festival will offer a variety of other attractions. On Saturday the 13th, there will be a free fish boil, providing festival-goers with the opportunity to experience the flavors of the Wisconsin tradition. A week-long vendor fair will showcase local businesses, offering festival attendees the chance to explore and support the community. Other highlights include a baggo tournament, food trucks, area restaurants, a kids fishing pond, and the highly-anticipated return of the legendary cheese curds.

Josh Sopczak, president of Salmon Unlimited of Wisconsin, expressed his gratitude to the club members, the Old Timers Athletic Club, the Volunteer Center of Racine County, Scout Troops 129 B and G, and all the volunteers who have dedicated their time and effort to make the festival a success over the years.

The City of Racine recently hired a new company to run events at the Racine Civic Centre. 5k Events LLC got a $150,000 contract to try and bring more activity to the downtown Racine destination. Their area of concern is Festival Hall, Memorial Hall, and Rotary Park.
