Signature Deadline Looms: Robin Vos Recall Effort Intensifies
Racine County, Wis (Civic Media) – The recall effort against Assembly Speaker and 63rd District Representative Robin Vos is nearing the end of a 60-day period to gather signatures. The group seeking to recall Vos has launched a new radio ad, urging listeners to send a message to politicians who stay in office too long. The ad accuses Vos of hurting constituents and enriching himself on taxpayers’ money. Conservative radio host Joe Giganti narrates the spot and encourages people to visit the recall website and sign the petition. The group has organized events and canvassing efforts to gather signatures, with a final push scheduled for this weekend in Union Grove.
The recall effort against Robin Vos is driven by various factors. Some individuals are upset with Vos’s refusal to decertify the results of the 2020 election, his public criticism of former President Donald Trump, and his unwillingness to impeach Wisconsin’s top elections chief. These actions have led to dissatisfaction among some constituents, who believe that Vos has not sufficiently protected the state’s election system from fraud. The recall effort aims to hold Vos accountable for these perceived failures and send a message to politicians who stay in office for too long.
Vos has dismissed the recall effort as a waste of time and believes that the group behind it is misguided. In a WISN 12 interview on Upfront, he referred to them as people who are not true Republicans and do not understand the need to focus on winning future elections rather than dwelling on past ones. Vos has expressed his opposition to the impeachment push against Wisconsin’s top elections chief, considering it a small, vocal group of people who are misguided.
To be successful in the recall effort the group needs to collect roughly 7,000 valid signatures in Vos’ 63rd Assembly district by mid-March. Once the recall petition is submitted, election officials verify the signatures. If enough valid signatures are collected, the question of whether to recall Vos would be placed on the ballot. In his recent election, Vos triumphed over Adam Steen, a write-in candidate backed by former President Trump. Vos garnered 73% of the vote, securing his re-election and 10th term.
