
New furry officer now certified and ready for schools
WAUSAU, Wis. (WXCO) – The Langlade County Sheriff’s Office welcomes the counties first K-9 officer in more than 35 years.
Langlade County has a new four-legged officer in town, K9 Sheena. Sheena is a Belgian Malinois shepherd mix and is extensively trained in narcotics, tracking and apprehension. One area she’ll be helping out in, is schools.
The Langlade County Sheriff’s Office is to is proud to announce that Sheena has now completed her certification and is fully operational.

Sheriff Westen presented K-9 Sheena her badge as her official welcome to the squad on February 1st, more than a year after they first received a grant to help fund their K9 program.
There are no immediate plans to expand beyond K9 Sheena, but she will bring skills in narcotics detection and tracking to the department, who had previously needed to utilize other agencies when situations called for K9 officers to help.
