A holiday display at Irvine Park in Chippewa Falls was nearly destroyed on Wednesday after a woman drove through it.

According to a press release from the Chippewa Falls Police department, at around 7:45 am on Wednesday law enforcement officials received a call about a vehicle ramming into fences and park displays near the entrance of Irvine Park.

The woman behind the wheel of the car, 32 year old Ebony Renea Hudson, also allegedly rammed head-on into a City Parks and Recreation Department vehicle 4 times as an employee attempted to block her from leaving. When Chippewa Falls Police Officers arrived at the scene, they were able to take Hudson into custody without further incident.

Law enforcement officials do not believe Hudson was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but say it appears to have been an intentional act. Neither she nor the Parks employee in the vehicle that she collided with repeatedly reported any injuries. Both cars suffered moderate damage to their fronts from the repeated head-on collisions.

Hudson was arrested and charged with 2nd degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Reckless Driving, and Criminal Damage to Property. Law enforcement officials transported her to the Chippewa County Jail following the incident.

While the wooden fence and holiday display at Irvine Park suffered damage, Parks employees were able to repair most of the holiday display. Law enforcement officials did not comment on a possible motive behind Hudson’s erratic behavior. The incident remains under investigation by the Chippewa Falls Police Department. Further charges are expected to be referred to the District Attorney’s Office.
